Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary(CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has urged discipline among motorists as they use the roads to avert road carnages.
Murkomen said disregard for traffic rules, such as overloading, is the cardinal cause of road accidents that continue to claim the lives of Kenyan road users.
“We know that boda boda should carry one person and the passenger should put on a helmet. But some people insist on being carried five people sometimes with their entire family members on the same bodo boda. We continue to lose lives because of such,” he said.
Further, he urged Kenyans to uphold collective responsibility to ensure that the country doesn’t witness more loss of lives through road accidents.
“Responsibility starts with those who are going to have the highest impacts of those accidents, which is you the passenger,” Murkomen stated.
