A 45-year-old man is nursing injuries at Bondo sub-county hospital after he was hacked by a panga on the face with his wife at Abimbo village in South Sakwa on Monday evening.
Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the matter was reported at the Amoyo police base by the Assistant Chief of Got-Abiero, Collins Waganda.
The assistant chief told police that the woman, Shaniz Achieng, hacked her husband Samson Atunda with a panga across the face while he was asleep.
He stated that the victim sustained a deep cut on the face.
Neighbors responded to the distress call and rushed him to the hospital, where he was admitted in a serious condition.

He said the neighbors beat the woman, but he managed to rescue and take her to the Amoyo police base, where she was later transferred to Bondo police station to aid with investigations.
Police recovered a blood-stained panga at the scene and kept it as an exhibit.
