A section of jubilee leaders led by Jeremiah Kioni has threatened to go to court to fight the government over its recent campaign on illicit brew that has led to the closure of several bars across the country.
The party criticized the government's decision, claiming that bars were closed without considering critical issues such as a compensation plan for those affected by the sudden policy changes.
The struggling party SG said that the shutdown has had a knock-on impact, affecting several sectors of the economy involved with entertainment businesses.

Kioni also accused the Kenya Kwanza government of taking over the county governments' authority because alcohol regulation is a decentralized role.
He stated that as a result of the actions taken, many families will face a significant economic hit because the bar industry is interwoven with other supportive ventures such as butcheries, among others.
"When you have paid for your licence and the money has been received and the licence issued, and then the bars are closed the way they're being closed, that amounts to breach of contract," he said during a press conference on Thursday.
“In the coming days, there should be somebody coming to court on behalf of the bar owners, and we’ll be suing the government for breach of contract. We will do that very early next week...and we know they don’t like obeying court orders, but that is what we must do.”
