Comedian turn activist Eric Omondi has fundraised over ksh 1 million for a family that lost seven members in a road accident at Salama along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway during Easter.
The comedian presented the money to the family during a funeral service on Tuesday at Karirikania Primary School in Nyota ward before an emotional burial at their Nakuru home.
Water Cabinet Secretary Zachariah Njeru stated that the accident had robbed the family of a significant portion of their life and urged road users to be more vigilant to reduce the number of accidents.
"It’s a sad incident to lose several members at a go, we pray that the Lord will strengthen you and give you courage to overcome the loss. I am urging everyone to join the government in addressing the road usage," he said.

"The government is also trying to ensure the status of roads in the country is improved."
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika stated that the county administration will continue to help the family as they cope with the death of their loved ones.
She stated that the county government will hire at least two members of the family to provide financial assistance.
The family was traveling home after Easter celebrations in Mombasa earlier this month when the tragedy happened, killing six family members on the scene and another in the hospital.
The 14-seater matatu they had rented out was part of a convoy of three cars that collided head-on with a truck, killing 11 people.
