Divers have recovered the body of a 29-year-old lady who jumped into river Nyamindi with her child tied to her back.
According to locals of Kabiroini hamlet in Gichugu, Kirinyaga, Morren Wangui's body was discovered around 10 miles downstream.
“The body was discovered by residents who were out harvesting grass on the riverbanks,” said Wangui's uncle, Stephen Kinyua.

Stephen explained that they were summoned to the location to identify the deceased.
“The people who found the body said that they had heard news on Inooro FM, about a woman who had drowned with her child, and so they decided to inform the authorities, as well as pass the message to us family members,” said Stephen.
According to the family, the child's body, believed to be five years old, was recovered on Saturday night.
The river had camped the family and residents while they continued their search.
The search crew uncovered a third body of an unidentified man while combing the river for Wangui's and her little daughter's remains.
Johnson Wachira, the Gichugu sub-county police chief, verified the incident, stating that a coffee plant watchman witnessed the woman jump into the river with her child.
The body was transferred to Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus, together with that of her five-year-old daughter.
