Eugene Wamalwa, Leader of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), has criticized President Ruto for his expensive trip to the United States.

According to Wamalwa, President Ruto's hiring of a private plane was unacceptable due to increasing taxes.

"You cannot say we don’t have money to pay for this, then the taxes you keep raising you are luxuriously spending these taxes," Wamalwa said on Citizen TV

"What is so special about William Ruto that he must hire such an expensive jet?" he added

Wamalwa stated Ruto missed a great opportunity to promote kenyas own airline, Kenya Airways.

"It is also a way of the President failing to market Kenya Airways. Any President who is a patriot must show pride in going with Kenya Airways and flying the Kenyan flag and marketing it to the world," he added.

Ruto had earlier justified his use of a luxurious private plane for his State Visit to the United States, stating that it was less expensive than using Kenya's national carrier.
