The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has launched an investigation into the shooting death of a 35-year-old man outside Quickin Lounge in Kiambu town.

Police reports indicate that the nightclub's owner, Alfred Nganga, reported a gunshot incident on his premises at about 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The victim, Anthony Njomo Kiunu, 35, died after being shot in the back after an altercation that began inside the establishment and escalated outside.

Njomo worked as an engineer for the US Embassy. The incident was captured by surveillance cameras facing the road.

The lounge indicated that the victim of the gunshot was not involved in the initial incident inside the club.

Officers from Kiambu police station who were at the scene of the crime said the man was shot in the back and had an exit wound on his chest.

The gunshot scene was quickly cleaned, and the deceased's body was taken to the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.

 Nason Kiteme, 28, a Comfort Homes branding manager, has been detained about the fatal shooting.
