A five-year-old girl was reportedly strangled to death by unknown assailants near her family home in Central Kanyamkago in Uriri, Migori County.
According to Central Kanyamkago Location Chief George Odhiambo, the girl's lifeless body was discovered within a partially constructed house, merely a short distance from her residence.
Further, he said that preliminary investigations had established that the killer used the child's clothes to strangle her to death.
He said that while the motive for the killing remains unknown, local DCI officers are actively investigating the incident.
The child's body has since been moved to Migori Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and police investigation.
