The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested four police officers and two civilians for robbing Kes 2.2 million from a school accountant in Utawala.
DCI says the suspects are believed to have trailed Rophine International School's accountant from a bank in Utawala on Monday before breaking into his car and taking the money intended to settle salary arrears for casual laborers at the school.
“During the Monday incident, the 6 trailed the accountant from the bank until when he parked the car outside the school,” DCI said in a statement.
The accountant is said to have entered the school with a portion of the money, and upon his return to collect the rest, he found the car had already been broken into.
The suspects, three of whom are a police sergeant, a corporal, a constable from Kasarani Police Station, and a police constable from Ruai police station, were rounded up in Kasarani Police Station's parking yard.

"Kes 473,000 believed to be part of the stolen amount was also recovered from the six, who were ambushed in the station's official police vehicle."
The suspects are in police custody pending further investigations.
