Makueni County Government has completed construction of 19 classrooms in 11 Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDC) at a cost of Kes 33.34 million in 2023/2024 financial year.

 According to Elizabeth Muli, the County Executive Committee Member (ECM) for the Department of ICT, Education, and Internship, the completed classrooms were in Kwa Kyai, Makusu, Ngokolani, Katilamu, Nguluni, Mutongu, Ndivu, Mwasa Ng’ombe, Muangeni, Ndukuma, and Ngunguuni centers spread across the county.

“Also we have equipped the classrooms with kiddy chairs, tables, blackboard, three door pit latrines, water tanks and done an office and store,” Muli said.

Further,she stated that there are other 28 ongoing projects expected to cost Kes 65 million to construct 43 classrooms, and once completed, they will equip all the centres.

She said that her department will ensure all ECDC learners have a conducive environment to work in besides providing quality education that meets the basic norms and standards hence employ qualified teachers to teach the minors.
