A middle-aged man died after he was struck by lightning on Tuesday evening at his home in Eshilarumwa in Mumias East, Kakamega County.
Rashid Ondewa’s family, led by Tahiri Omumasaba, said their kin were standing next to his kitchen at the time.
Efforts to rush him to a hospital in Shianda were futile, as he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“He has left a huge gap in our family. Rashid was an instrumental person in the family,” Omumasaba added.
Traders at Shianda market, where the deceased used to work, remembered the deceased as a diligent businessman.
