The High Court has given the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) the right to confiscate and sell properties property worth Ksh.235 million belonging to former Migori Governor Okoth Obado
According to EACC, the assets, including a Ksh.40 million residence in Nairobi's Loresho estate, belong to Obado and his cronies. They resulted from corruption and unexplained riches taken from the Migori County Government.
Justice Esther Maina granted the court instructions after Obado and EACC reached an out-of-court settlement.

"In the consent judgement delivered in the civil forfeiture case by Justice Esther Maina on Tuesday, the High Court adopted an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) settlement reached by the parties," said EACC.
The commission added, "The consent judgment does not affect the ongoing criminal case against the former Governor and his children, whose cumulative direct benefit from the fraudulent scheme was Ksh.73 million."
Sunrise Centre, a business block worth Ksh.88 million, a five-story residential block worth Ksh.57.6 million, and two Ksh.9 million flats in Greenspan are targeted assets.
A residential property worth Ksh.10 million and two Toyota Land Cruiser cars are also up for sale.
