The digital lending company Tala has announced that it has disbursed Kes 300 billion to Kenyans since its inception in 2014.
According to the 2023 Tala Impact Report released on Thursday, the fintech disburses about Kes 10 billion and Kes 15 billion in the country each month, serving 3.5 million customers.
Further, the report revealed that Tala serves more than 9 million customers globally, with Kes 750 billion already disbursed in the Philippines, Mexico, and India.
Tala Kenya General Manager Annstella Mumbi said the company will be moving to a second phase of the industry, thinking beyond access and into the industry's and Tala's ability to offer more customer-centric solutions in the next ten years.

Tala also announced plans to enter the $10 trillion global fintech market and serve 52 percent of the world’s population.
Speaking during the company’s 10th anniversary , Tala Global Chief Business Officer Jori Pearsall said the digital lender will target populations excluded from the financial institutions in the second phase of itsoperations.
“Located primarily in emerging markets, they earn money in both the formal and informal economies but often don’t have access to savings, credit, bill payment tools or the ability to affordably transfer money.”
