Police have launched an investigation into the tragic deaths of three workers who were crushed by a granite stone while unloading it from a truck in Ruiru.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening as eight individuals were unloading the granite. According to reports, the stone slipped, leading to the fatal accident.
Ruiru Sub-County Police Commander Alex Shikondi confirmed that four people managed to escape, while another person sustained critical injuries and is currently recovering in the hospital.
A survivor, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "The trailer was not stable, making it difficult to offload the granite. Those handling the material lacked experience in safely managing the product."
Witnesses at the scene described the horrifying event, noting that their efforts to save their colleagues were in vain. The tragic accident has raised concerns about safety practices and proper training for handling heavy materials.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident's circumstances to prevent future occurrences.
