Veteran journalist Macharia Gaitho was abducted this morning at the Karen Police Station.

According to a video circulating on social media taken by his son Andrew, it shows Gaitho being bundled into a private car by uniformed police officers, and others dressed in civilian clothing.

Andrew details that his father drove into the police station to take cover after noticing the suspicious vehicle following him through traffic.

Further, he was forced into the private vehicle as other police officers in the station watched.

However,  he has been released  hours after his arrest.

According to the National Police Service  his arrest was mistaken identity.
