Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen has expressed his gratitude for being appointed by President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports. In a social media post, Murkomen thanked President Ruto for giving him "this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation, Kenya."
In his message on X, Murkomen shared that he has been contemplating various issues since the president dissolved the entire cabinet, including his previous role as Transport and Roads CS. He also took the opportunity to apologize to Kenyans for any offense he may have caused through his actions, words, and perceived opulent lifestyle.
"The past two weeks have been a period of deep reflection. I want to unreservedly apologize to every Kenyan who I may have offended through my words, deeds, or conduct, including my lifestyle, during the last two years of my public service," he said.
Murkomen's apology follows criticism from the Gen Z demographic, who have accused some public officials of misusing public resources and displaying excessive wealth, calling for greater accountability.
