Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has disclosed that President William Ruto accommodated his requests in the newly formed Cabinet. Speaking in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, on Sunday, Gachagua expressed satisfaction with the representation the Mt. Kenya region received in the Cabinet, describing it as fair.
"Yale yote amefanya sisi tumekubali. Yangu nimetetea na imefanyika. Mimi nimesema niangaliliwe hii na imeangaliliwa," Gachagua said, which translates to, "We accept everything he (President Ruto) has done. I gave my wish list, and it was granted. I pointed out certain issues, and they were addressed."
Gachagua emphasized his commitment to advocating for the interests of the Mt. Kenya region, assuring that he would continue to ensure they receive their fair share. However, he cautioned against misinterpreting his actions as favoring one region over others.
"I am guilty as charged. I have no defense that I love my people, that I care for them, that I think about them. That, I am guilty as charged," he stated, clarifying that he also values the interests of the entire country.

A few days earlier, Gachagua had praised the inclusive nature of the Cabinet, describing it as a victory for all Kenyans. He emphasized that there were no losers in the new appointments and highlighted that the Mt. Kenya region was pleased with the inclusion of Secretary to the Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau.
"I have seen many people commenting about gains and losses, which region got what, which one lost, which one didn't, who is strong, who is not? I think the whole thing is a win for Kenya," Gachagua remarked at the funeral of Susan Wanjohi in Nyandarua, Laikipia County. Wanjohi was the mother of Mercy Wanjau.
