Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, a prominent figure from Mount Kenya and a native of Nyeri County, often speaks in Kikuyu at public events. However, he has revealed that he is not of pure Kikuyu descent.
In a live interview with journalists on Sunday night, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua disclosed that his mother was from the Meru community. He mentioned that he understands both Meru and Embu languages but prefers to speak in Kikuyu, emphasizing that his language choice does not signify tribalism.
During the interview, Gachagua also expressed his eagerness to work with the leaders recently appointed by President William Ruto. His remarks have prompted various reactions from Kenyans on social media.
