There was a significant altercation at the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) offices when newly elected board members were allegedly blocked from accessing the premises.
The new members accused MCSK CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua of orchestrating their confinement in a room where armed individuals allegedly confronted them.
According to Cornelius Macharia, an artist and one of the purportedly elected board members, the assailants, who were reportedly armed with knives, were sent to intimidate them with violence, including physical assault and tearing their clothes.
The group claims that police officers from Kileleshwa Police Station were also present during the incident.

Macharia stated that the new board members were elected during an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) and have the legal documentation (CR-12) to confirm their positions. He has since filed a police report at Kileleshwa Police Station detailing the assault.
Other members of the society have called for MCSK Chairman Lazarus Muli to step down, arguing that he has been in office for 11 years, which they claim is against the constitution.
They also demand that Dr. Mutua respect the new leadership changes, emphasizing that artists contributing to his significant monthly salary deserve fair representation.
