Police are investigating an incident in which the body of a 25-year-old man from Mahiga-ini village in Kirinyaga County was found dumped in a rice farm canal with severe face injuries.
Confirming the incident, Mwea-East sub-county police commander Patrick Nyaanga said the man had gone missing for five days before his body was found.
Further, he said the body of Joseph Munyi Wairimu was found in a canal near the KALRO farm by residents who were cutting grass.
"We have launched investigations to establish exactly what happened to Munyi.”
According to Mahiga-ini village residents who arrived at the scene when the alarm was raised, led by a village elder, Gathee Muriithi, Munyi went missing on 14th August, and his mother villagers had been searching for him.

The man worked as a cleaner at a local hotel in Ngurubani town.
"We wonder who could kill him and dump his body in a rice farm water canal," Muriithi said.
The deceased's body was taken to Kibugi Funeral Home, Kutus, awaiting a postmortem as investigations continue.
