President William Ruto has praised the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) for their significant contribution to improving access to education across the country.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) in Lower Kabete on August 20, President Ruto emphasized the importance of education transition at all levels, from primary to secondary. He urged the officers to prioritize this objective. "By empowering you as key agents of change in Kenya's educational landscape, the government is committed to closing educational gaps and ensuring equal opportunities for all children," Ruto stated in a press release dated August 25.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki echoed the President’s remarks, commending the officers for their efforts in enforcing the government’s 100% school transition policy throughout 2023. Kindiki also encouraged the officers to continue monitoring students who have completed their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams to ensure they advance to the next level of education.

According to the Ministry of Interior, NGAO was instrumental in facilitating the transition of approximately 1.2 million students to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS). Additionally, 1.1 million students moved on to Form One, while 15,874 others enrolled in vocational training programs during the same period.

NGAO officers, alongside police officers, also provide essential support through coordination, logistics, and security during national exams. The ministry further recognized their role in assisting young female pupils who take national exams while pregnant.
