Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has accused Embakasi East MP Babu Owino of interfering in Uganda's political issues.
While endorsing Raila Odinga for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson role, Museveni highlighted that intelligence reports indicate Owino's involvement with anti-government activists in Uganda.
Museveni strongly supported Odinga's AUC bid, acknowledging his long-standing contribution to African struggles.

However, he voiced concerns over Owino's alleged associations with groups opposing Uganda's ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). "Some individuals in Raila's camp may not fully understand the implications of their actions.
I've seen reports on Babu's dealings with anti-NRM factions, and while I’ve held back from accusing him, I now feel compelled to do so," Museveni remarked.
The Ugandan leader emphasized the importance of patriotism and Pan-Africanism, citing Africa’s historical battles against external forces and subsequent internal conflicts as lessons for the continent's future prosperity.
Museveni concluded his remarks by reaffirming his support for Odinga's candidacy, endorsed by other East African leaders, including Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu and South Sudan's Salva Kiir.
