Kenyan teachers' salaries will increase from August, with increments ranging between Ksh.1,000 and Ksh.3,000, depending on their job groups.
This adjustment comes after the teaching community anticipated a salary review on July 1st, the beginning of the financial year, which was postponed due to financial constraints.
Despite differing opinions among the two primary teachers' unions, KNUT and KUPPET, regarding potential strike action, the government has confirmed that Ksh.13 billion has been allocated to fund the pay rise.
According to official figures, the lowest-paid teachers in Grade B5 will see their essential salary rise from Ksh.22,739 to Ksh.23,830. A senior primary school teacher in Grade C2 will have a basic pay increase from Ksh.45,776 to Ksh.47,858.
