Kenyans have sharply criticized State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed for interrupting a live TV interview to challenge President William Ruto's critic, Morara Kabeso, over claims of a phone call between him and the President. Mohamed, who previously worked as a journalist at Citizen TV before joining the Kenya Kwanza administration, called his former colleague Jeff Koinange, who was hosting Morara on Wednesday. Mohamed intervened after noticing that the lawyer had openly claimed the President recently called him to offer a government job.

Mohamed firmly stated that no such phone call had ever occurred between Morara and the President, challenging the outspoken lawyer to provide evidence to support his claims.

"A lot of Kenyans have the President’s number by the way. Let Morara substantiate that the President called him. He is lying, he is running away from the question. Will you allow anybody in Kenya to just walk into your studios and say he was called by the President and you just believe it? How can he prove it?" Mohamed said

Earlier in the show, Morara alleged that President William Ruto had called him with a job offer in his government, which he claims to have openly rejected. He stated that he turned down the offer because it would have required him to work within a corrupt system.

"Initially I had calls from people around the President. Then eventually I got a call from the President. I spoke to him very respectfully because he is our President.

Whatever I was offered I refused, I was offered a state position. Being a brilliant person and a person of integrity, I believe that if I go into government I am going there to be corrupt." He said

Some Kenyans have criticized Mohamed, saying he embarrassed himself by interrupting the show to confront Morara. They argue that, given his experience as a journalist and a senior government official, Mohamed should have handled the situation more professionally.
