Fans are celebrating the return of the beloved BBC series Colin From Accounts, which has been hailed as the best comedy in years. The Australian show is back for a second season, and eager viewers have already begun binge-watching the new episodes on BBC iPlayer.

Colin From Accounts, produced by Binge and Foxtel, has received widespread acclaim on social media, with fans praising the romantic comedy as “as good as ever” and calling it a welcome escape from the challenges of everyday life. The second season premiered today on BBC Two and is available on iPlayer, bringing joy to viewers who have been eagerly awaiting its return.

Set in Sydney, the series follows Gordon and Ashley, portrayed by real-life husband-and-wife duo Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer. Their story begins when Ashley distracts Gordon by flashing her breasts, leading him to accidentally hit a dog, whom they name Colin. The couple’s offbeat love story has captured the hearts of audiences around the world, making the show an international hit in over 100 countries since its debut in 2022.

Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement, with one user writing, “Colin From Accounts is the best comedy of the last few years. Adored the first series, and now series 2 is finally on iPlayer!” Another added, “It’s ok everyone, Colin From Accounts is back to save us from this God awful life.”

The series has continued to receive critical acclaim, boasting a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 74% rating on the Popcornmeter website. Following the success of season one, Brammall and Dyer earned an AACTA award for Best Narrative Comedy Series, as well as Logies for Most Outstanding Actor and Actress. The show also took home honors at the Venice TV Awards, the European Broadcasting Union’s Rose d’Or Awards, and London’s C21 International Awards.

Despite its current success, Colin From Accounts was initially passed over by the Australian Broadcasting Association. Reflecting on this, Brammall told The Weekend Australian Magazine, “Ultimately, the feedback was, ‘Sorry, but you’re two straight white people.’”

The new season introduces comedian Celeste Barber to the cast, alongside Virginia Gay from Winners & Losers, Justin Rosniak from Mr Inbetween, Lynne Porteous from Home and Away, and Blue Heelers actor John Howard.
