Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed claims that Raila Odinga's candidacy for the African Union Commission Chairperson might undermine his influence within the government.
Gachagua supported Odinga's close working relationship with President William Ruto, downplaying any suggestions of internal administration conflicts.
Speaking at the funeral of former Nacada CEO Victor Okioma in Nyabomo village, Trans-Nzoia County, Gachagua reaffirmed his firm stance in government and rejected any notion of being ousted by his political opponents.

His remarks followed recent tensions in Mount Kenya politics, where leaders from his home region had criticized him in the presence of President Ruto.
Gachagua emphasized that his position in the government remained solid, comparing his resolve to metal, and stated that he was unconcerned about any new entrants into the administration.
Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya supported Gachagua’s position, highlighting the Deputy President's role in advocating for regional unity. Natembeya argued that regional problems are unique and require focused efforts to address them, particularly in the Western region.
Additionally, Gachagua addressed concerns over delayed county funds, explaining that the government currently operates with limited resources and stressing the importance of increased tax collection to support county-level operations.
