During this period, essential M-Pesa services, including money transfers, bill payments, cash withdrawals, and airtime purchases, will be unavailable. However, Safaricom assured customers that other services like calls, SMS, and data will not be affected.
Safaricom, Kenya's leading telecom provider, launched M-Pesa in 2007, and it has since become a significant revenue driver. For the financial year ending March 31, 2024, M-Pesa accounted for 42.4% of Safaricom's total revenue, generating Ksh 140 billion.
