A woman's body, wrapped in a blanket and buried without a casket, has been exhumed from a shallow grave in Trans Nzoia County. The discovery was made as homicide detectives began excavating the grave at a home in Kaliwa village, Waitaluk ward, amid suspicions that more bodies may be buried there.
The shallow grave is situated behind a mud house, and authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with the case. Homicide officers were deployed to guard the home overnight as investigations continue into the potential secret burials of an unknown number of people.
Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Jeremiah Ole Kosiom confirmed that they had obtained a court order to exhume the grave, stating, "We have two suspects in custody, and we expect to uncover the full truth." The individuals arrested are the owners of the property where the grave was found.
