Carrefour has opened a new store at the Nord Mall in Ruiru, Kiambu County, bringing its number of outlets to 24 nationwide as part of its expansion in Nairobi’s satellite towns.
The outlet has a diverse range of consumer goods, home appliances, electronics, groceries, and fresh food.
Majid Al Futtaim Regional Director East Africa Retail Christophe Orcet stated that the expansion aims to enhance convenience and accessibility for residents of Thika Town and surrounding areas, providing them with affordable, high-quality products
“Our commitment to our customers is to provide them with greater convenience by extending our services closer to them and improving access to high-quality, affordable products.”
The new Carrefour store will create 67 skilled and unskilled jobs for Kenyans.

Further, Orcet stated that the expansion aims to provide opportunities for more than 700 local farmers, SMEs, and manufacturers who supply goods to the retailer, contributing to a 99 percent local sourcing rate.

Majid Al Futtaim now operates 19 Carrefour stores in Nairobi, three in Mombasa, and two in Kisumu.
