Douglas Kanja has been sworn in as the Inspector General of the National Police Service(NPS)for four years at the Supreme Court in Nairobi.
His swearing-in came after President William Ruto appointed him as the next IG, replacing Japhet Koome, who resigned in July.
“I William Ruto appoint Douglas Kanja Kirocho to be the Inspector General of the National Police Service for a term of 4 years,” read a gazette notice.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has been serving in the position in an acting capacity.
The appointment follows approval by the National Assembly on Wednesday.
