Prominent businessman David Langat has distanced himself from the controversial arrest of activist and civic educator Morara Kebaso.

Contrary to a charge sheet circulating, Langat clarified on Tuesday that he had not filed any complaint against Kebaso.

According to a DL Group of Companies Limited statement, Langat was invited by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record a statement. During his visit to DCI Headquarters, Langat emphasized that he had no involvement in the authorship or content of the online posts.

Langat has called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The charge sheet accuses Kebaso of cyber harassment over a post on his X account (formerly Twitter) on September 28.

The post, which alleged that Langat was facing financial difficulties due to a loan linked to President William Ruto, has been labeled as false and defamatory.

Kebaso’s claims, which sparked controversy, suggested that Ruto was using his influence to buy Langat’s auctioned properties at undervalued rates.

Kebaso was released on a cash bail of Ksh 50,000, and his case is scheduled for mention on October 4.
