Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has declined an appointment by President William Ruto to join the Nairobi Rivers Commission. In a gazette notice issued on October 25, Omanga was named to the commission, which will be chaired by former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
Taking to social media, Omanga announced her decision to reject the position, citing “personal reasons.” She expressed her gratitude for being considered for such an important role in enhancing Nairobi’s environment and public health, but stated, “After careful consideration, I must respectfully decline the appointment due to personal reasons.”
Despite her refusal, Omanga, who ran unsuccessfully for the Nairobi Woman Representative position in 2022, affirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at restoring the city's rivers. She also mentioned her willingness to contribute in any way that aligns with her current commitments.
