Machakos County Attorney Advocate James Kathili has resigned from the Machakos County Government, citing frustration.
Kathili, who previously worked with former Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua and later joined Governor Wavinya Ndeti's administration, tendered his resignation on Monday.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Tuesday, he revealed that he is writing a book to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding his exit.
One of the challenges Kathili faced during his tenure was the recent corruption allegations raised by the Senate.
He was accused of land grabbing and contributing to the loss of cases in court.

Kathili firmly rejected these accusations, stating that he had always carried out his duties diligently and ethically.
"I have worked diligently, and these allegations are baseless. It has been a tough time, especially after false information was spread about me. Thankfully, the EACC confirmed that there were no investigations into me, but it still hurt to hear that I was being branded incompetent."
Kathili also expressed frustration over the lack of support he received in his role, particularly highlighting that his office had been underfunded, and he had been denied access to the governor’s office since May 2024.
He explained that his office was closed, and his personal belongings were removed and relocated without his knowledge.
"Saying too much at this point might preempt the full story, but I am writing a book where I will explain the details," he said. "It’s been disheartening, especially when my work and my reputation were questioned."
In his resignation letter to Governor Wavinya, Kathili thanked her for the opportunity to serve the people of Machakos, wishing her well as she continues to lead the county.
Kathili’s resignation follows a series of departures from the county government, including those of former CECM for Health Daniel Yumbya, Chief Officer for Health Wycliffe Miyienda, CECM for Sports Onesmus Sky Muasya, and Chief Officer for Communications Daniel Mule, among others.
