Three suspects, Francis Masai Musyimi, Mercy Mbinya Muthoka, and Charity Maua Muthoka, have been released by the court after spending nearly a week in police custody. They were accused of conspiring to steal Ksh 30,998,000 from Progressive Credit Limited.

According to the prosecution, the suspects, along with Nicholas Muia Kyengo—who remains at large—allegedly stole the funds between April 12, 2022, and July 18, 2024, while working as employees of Progressive Credit Limited.

Francis Masai Musyimi and Nicholas Muia Kyengo are separately charged with stealing by servant where the prosecution alleged that the two stole Ksh 30,998,000 from their employer, Progressive Credit Limited.

Charity Maua Muthoka was also separately charged with stealing Ksh 30,998,000 from Progressive Credit limited on diverse dates between April 12, 2022 and July 18, 2024.

Consequently, Mercy Mbinya Muthoka faced a charge of stealingKsh 15,499,000 from Progressive Credit Limited on diverse dates between April 12, 2022 and July 18, 2024.

Appearing before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi at Milimani Law Courts, the suspects denied the charges.

The prosecution vehemently opposed release of the suspects on bond or bail.

Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi has granted bail to the three suspects in the Progressive Credit Limited theft case. Francis Masai Musyimi and Mercy Mbinya Muthoka were each released on a bond of Ksh 5 million.

Charity Maua Muthoka, a judicial officer based in Nyeri, was granted a bond of Ksh 3 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 800,000.

The case is scheduled to resume on January 16, 2025.
