A tragic road accident involving two lorries and a bus occurred near the sewage area along the Embu-Nairobi highway at around 8:30 p.m., leaving one person dead and two others seriously injured.
The crash caused a major disruption, with traffic stretching three kilometers in both directions.
The collision involved a lorry transporting maize, another carrying firewood, and a Tahmeed company bus.
Eyewitnesses reported that one lorry, traveling toward Nairobi, suffered brake failure and collided with a stationary lorry under inspection by Embu County enforcement officers at a roadblock. The impact caused the trailing bus to sustain a shattered windscreen.
Nancy Njeri, an eyewitness, described hearing a loud crash before rushing to the scene, where she found maize sacks and firewood scattered across the road, hindering access to the trapped victims.

Both lorry drivers were pinned inside their vehicles, requiring police and residents to use a breakdown truck to separate the wreckage. Unfortunately, one driver was found deceased, while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
Francis Ndirangu, a rescue coordinator from Kirimari Ward, praised the community for their quick response but noted that the lack of adequate rescue tools delayed efforts. Thankfully, all bus passengers escaped uninjured.
The accident drew crowds, complicating police efforts to manage the scene as onlookers risked their safety to capture photos and videos.
