Police in Kirinyaga County have apprehended a suspect in connection with the brutal killing of a man in Kiamutuira village.

Kirinyaga Central Sub-County Police Commander John Torori confirmed the arrest of Nicholas Muriuki on Wednesday, stating that detectives tracked him down to his hideout after receiving a tip-off.

Muriuki is accused of being involved in the death of Stanley Mwangi, 40, following an altercation on their way home from Mugaya shopping center after a night out at a local bar. Authorities are still pursuing a second suspect linked to the incident.

"It is reported that an argument broke out, escalating into a physical fight that tragically resulted in a fatality," said Torori.

The suspect is currently in custody at Kerugoya Police Station, while the deceased’s body has been moved to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Mwangi’s brother, Charles Muthii, revealed that he attempted to raise an alarm during the attack, but by the time neighbors arrived, the suspects had fled.
