Authorities in Muhoroni Sub-County, Kisumu County, have launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a 17-year-old Form Four student.
Her decomposing body was discovered in a sugarcane plantation in the Migingo area, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The victim, a student at Nyando Mixed Secondary Day School, had been reported missing by her parents earlier in the week after failing to return home from school. Disturbingly, her half-naked body bore signs of strangulation, raising suspicions that she may have been assaulted before her tragic death.
The discovery was made after residents spotted dogs emerging from the plantation with human body parts, prompting them to alert the police. Upon arrival, authorities found the girl's remains in an advanced state of decomposition, with both her hands and legs partially devoured. Her protruding tongue indicated possible strangulation.
Police have arrested a 30-year-old suspect, Lawrence Owuor, in connection with the heinous crime. Meanwhile, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have transferred the body to St. Vincent Mission Hospital for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.
This horrifying incident has left the village in deep shock, with residents demanding justice for the young victim.
