The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended multiple suspects linked to a string of violent attacks and robberies along Thika Road and in the Mathare area.
The incidents occurred on Tuesday as President William Ruto toured Mathare during his Nairobi region visit.
In a statement released on Thursday, DCI confirmed the arrest of John Junior Oginga, who was found along Thika Road armed with a knife. He was taken into custody and escorted to Pangani Police Station after allegedly robbing an unsuspecting victim of an Oppo A77S smartphone worth Ksh.28,000.

Authorities also arrested seven other individuals accused of robbing pedestrians of phones and valuables in Mathare Area 4. The suspects, Jared Nyanza, Darlin Lande, Daniel Okombe, Mike Robert, Elvis Otieno, Reagan Omondi, and Mathenge Gachiri, were transferred to Muthaiga Police Station for further investigation.
Additionally, officers recovered seven brand-new shirts suspected to be stolen property.
The DCI reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying crackdowns on crime, vowing to track down all individuals involved in the recent robberies and restore security in Nairobi.
