Authorities in Kitui County are searching for a middle-aged man accused of killing his nine-month-old daughter following a domestic altercation in Ikanga Market, Mutomo sub-county, on Wednesday night.
Ikanga Location Chief, Onesmus Mutaula, reported that the suspect allegedly strangled the infant before using a kitchen knife to slit her throat. He then disposed of the child's body in a pit latrine.
Police at Ikanga Police Station have launched an investigation into the tragic incident. The infant’s remains have been transferred to the Mutomo Level Four Hospital morgue for further procedures.
Law enforcement officials are appealing to the public for any information that could help locate the suspect.
