Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has announced the passing of his longtime personal aide and bodyguard, George Oduor, who succumbed to a short illness on Tuesday evening in Nairobi.
In an emotional statement, Odinga expressed deep sorrow over Oduor’s death, describing him as a loyal and professional companion who had been part of his inner circle since the late 1980s.
Oduor was praised for his unwavering dedication, vigilance, and calm demeanor, even in the most challenging situations. Odinga acknowledged the profound loss felt not only by his own family but also by Oduor’s close friends and colleagues.
"I will deeply miss George, and I share in the sorrow of the many who are already mourning him," Odinga stated.
On behalf of his wife, Ida Odinga, and the entire Jaramogi Odinga family, the ODM leader extended heartfelt condolences to Oduor’s widow, Carol George, as well as his family and friends.
