Titus Wekesa Sifuna was recently arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts following a miscellaneous application filed by the prosecution.
Authorities are seeking to hold Sifuna in custody for seven days to allow for the completion of ongoing investigations.
According to court submissions, Sifuna allegedly used his X (formerly Twitter) account—operating under the handle **@5thethief** and username *"I must go"*—to publish inflammatory and disrespectful content aimed at the President and his family.
The prosecution argued that the controversial posts, which included messages and images, triggered widespread public backlash and threatened national unity and cohesion. They further claimed that the shared content amounts to hate speech, with the potential to ignite ethnic tensions across the country.
Additionally, it was revealed in court that Sifuna had altered his X profile to display an image of the President, an act the authorities believe could mislead the public and harm the integrity of the Head of State.
Prosecutors emphasized that such actions undermine the President’s role as a symbol of national unity and could damage the country’s reputation on both local and international platforms.
