A coordinated operation by a multi-agency team, including officers from the National Police Service, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), and public health officials, uncovered a large-scale counterfeit alcohol operation in the Moiben area of Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

During the raid on a private residence, officials confiscated thousands of bottles of fake alcohol, several liters of ethanol, and a machine believed to be used for forging KRA excise stamps. A portion of the illicit goods had already been packed into a small saloon car, ready for distribution.

One individual was apprehended at the scene, while multiple suspects managed to flee before authorities could arrest them.

Although the exact street value of the seized products is yet to be confirmed, initial estimates suggest the haul could be worth millions of Kenyan shillings.

Investigators noted a growing trend of counterfeit liquor manufacturing in upscale residential neighborhood locations that typically avoid suspicion, making it increasingly difficult for law enforcement agencies to detect these illegal operations.
