Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has announced hosting the first-ever Mango Conference in May.
The governor noted that the conference will bring together mango vendors, producers and investors in the fruit industry.
“The first Mango Conference in Kenya, bringing all mango producers, sellers, investors and all the value chains, will be held here in Makueni in May this year,” said Mutula
Additionally, he said the Conference will enable the County to showcase and market its fruit at both domestic and international markets.
“Makueni is the leading producer of mangoes in Kenya, we are expecting to export our mangoes to the international market, so that our farmers get good prices,” added Mutula.

Mangoes are grown and sold by at least 109,465 locals through cooperatives, while some inhabitants also sell their produce directly to vendors.
The declaration was made following a meeting between the County Boss and Benjamin Tito, Director of Horticultural Crops for the Agriculture and Food Authority.
