President william ruto has fired back at Raila Odinga over his remarks that the azimio la Umoja coalition will call for mass action if the government does not lower living costs.
Speaking during the launch of the nairobi rivers commission in korogocho on Wednesday, president ruto said that he is not bothered by the empty threats from the azimio leader or the coalition.
President Ruto said the opposition could organise as many rallies as they wanted. His regime will remain unbothered. "I want to tell our brothers, relax, na wasituuzie uoga, sisi si watu wa kuuziwa uoga. Kila Mkenya ako na haki katika taifa letu la Kenya na malengo yetu ni kuhakikisha Kenya inaenda mbele," he stated.
“Hao majamaa watulize boli. Ati wanataka kututisha na maandamano, watafanya maandamano mpaka watachoka"

President Ruto reaffirmed his remarks, pledging to ensure that every citizen in the country follows the law and the Constitution. "As the President, I am going to make sure we avoid and banish impunity; nobody will threaten Kenya with impunity. Everybody must respect the law and this country will be governed by the rule of law," President Ruto said.
"Kenya is going to be a country run on the basis of the rule of law and the Constitution and all citizens have an equal opportunity and no citizen is greater than another."
President Ruto accused the azimio coalition of double standards, saying that they are part of the failing economy since they were part of the previous administration. Ruto said that his regime is dedicated to lowering the cost of living, urging the opposition to give them time.
“Nataka niwaambie wale majamaa, mlikuwa na miaka tano ya handshake na mambo yenu, bei ya unga ikafika Ksh.230 saa hii tumeteremsha imefika Ksh.180. Watupatie nafasi itafika Ksh.140 alafu Ksh. 120…wawache kimbelembele, walikuwa na nafasi yao wakaharibu,” the President stated.
His response came after the azimio la Umoja leader announced that he would organise mass action if the president didn't lower the cost of living.
