The Supreme Court approved the LGBTQ community's registration as a non-governmental group over the weekend. This was a joy to all the members of the LGBTQ community. However, Kenya's church leaders have reacted to this with great rage.
Several church leaders requested a press conference to denounce and criticize the supreme court's ruling.

Makena claimed that they began to feel uncomfortable in the church as soon as they came out as members of the LGBTQ community.
She criticized the church for treating community members unfairly and said God did not discriminate.
When it comes to issues involving the rights of LGBTQ people, Makena has been very outspoken.
Nonetheless, the actor said in an interview with Bien of Sauti Sol that the ministry of education must include LGBTQ-related topics in the curriculum to aid developing children in better understanding their sexuality.
To a large extent, discussions about sexuality, particularly those involving the LGBTQ population, have been frowned upon. Given that most Kenyans are deeply anchored in religion, where being a member of the LGBTQ community is frowned upon, the government has not been eager to confront them.
They have also pushed for changes to Kenyan legislation to support the LGBTQ community better. Makena has claimed that given the current legal framework, it is extremely difficult for people of minority sexual orientation to seek justice because doing so would put them at risk of being found out.
Makena further urged the government to swiftly enact the laws to protect LGBTQ people from future abuse and injury.
"The government should honor its pledge to align Kenya’s legislative and legal environment with international and regional standards on SGBV. We further stress the importance of developing favorable social norms, attitudes, and behaviors at institutional, community, and individual levels to prevent and respond to SGBV."
They have also stated that they will not give up on the struggle for the rights of LGBTQ people.
"I will continue condemning the hate LGBTQ+ persons face in this country we call home. I will call it exactly what it is without any fear. I move with LOVE only."
Makena is not the only famous person in the nation to publicly identify as part of the LGBTQ community. Along with the media celebrity Anita Nderu, other couples supporting the rainbow hues include King Alami and Noti Flow. The neighborhood is expanding every day.
