The self-proclaimed king of comedy Eric Omondi has been freed from Nairobi's Central Police Station, where he had been detained since his arrest on Monday afternoon.

Omondi was apprehended on Uhuru Highway while driving a handcart full of Curriculum Vitae (CVs) for unemployed Kenyans to the State House. In a video posted by online content creator Vincent Mboya, the comedian revealed that he was released by businessman Gor Semelang'o, who drove him out of the police station.

Speaking to online media shortly after being released, Omondi remained defiant in his pursuit, stating that he would present the CVs to head of state William Ruto at State House when he returns from his foreign journey.

He said, "Hizo ma-CV, tutazipeleka zote hatutachoka."

Omondi said that he would not let the narrative shift from the condition of the economy and poverty to politics and clout chasing, emphasising that he is in it for the right reasons and not just to keep his name on people's lips.

"The conversation is about poverty; I am the voice of millions of Kenyans, and I will shout it; do not play politics with our lives; they want to shift the narrative from high cost of living to kuchoma vitu za watu...it will not change as long as Eric Omondi is alive," he said.

The controversial comedian stated that he would keep going with his peaceful protests but may be compelled to change how he moves about them to better amplify his message.

"We said that the demonstrations will be daily and they will be daily but in a creative way...I will not stop,” said eric omondi
