On Monday morning, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Kennedy Ng'ondi's government vehicle was involved in an accident in the Kabansora neighbourhood of Donholm.
The Speaker was on his way to his office when he was hit by a train as the driver attempted to cross the railway line.
Speaking to Nairobi News from his vehicle, the Speaker explained that his conscience drove him to utilize a car behind the official one allocated to him by the county.
The driver of Mr Ng'ondi's official vehicle was critically hurt in the collision and is being treated at Mater Hospital, according to Mr Ng'ondi.

"The driver has suffered serious injuries. "He was taken to Mater Hospital for treatment," added Mr Ng'ondi.
He claimed the driver did not hear the train stop and was crushed as they stood behind him.
"I was on my way to Nyayo Estate." The lead car's official automobile was crossing the railway line, and the driver could not hear the training impact. It happened on our watch, which was awful."
According to the statement, the incident was blamed on weariness because the driver had arrived from Mombasa the night before.
He said the driver was being treated to check whether he had any internal bleeding or fractures.

Mr Ng'ondi was elected as the Third Assembly Speaker of Nairobi County last year, defeating the nominee of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, the assembly's minority party.
Mr Ng'ondi recently spoke to the press on the county assembly's unity in approving measures that benefit communities.
He has also collaborated extensively with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
