Vihiga County has received 305 liquid oxygen cylinders from the National government to be distributed to seven health facilities.
According to the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services Dr Nicholas Mwandihi, 200 fifty-litre, 75 twenty-litre and 30 ten-litre containers which are part of 20, 620 recently to the Council of Governors (CoG).
The County Referral Hospital (CRH), Emuhaya sub-county Hospital, Mbale Rural health training centre, Hamisi sub-county Hospital, Bugina, and Emusire Health centres will each receive 30 cylinders.
While receiving the consignment, Mwandihi said the oxygen supply will help the critically ill patients.

“The remainder will be kept in the central store at the CRH to be given out on demand,” he explained.
Further, he said that they intend to revive the oxygen plant at the CRH to produce the commodity in large quantities to serve the patients adequately.
