In order to block Pastor Ezekiel Odero's potential release, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has submitted fresh affidavits to the Shanzu law courts.
In the Shakahola massacre case, the prosecution highlighted new evidence and asked the judge to give the DCI another 30 days in detention before charging the priest. Thursday 4, at 10:00 AM, Ezekiel Odero appeared in court amidst heavy security.
Despite objections from his legal team, Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta, the Senior Principal Magistrate has allowed the prosecution to file the detention order application orally and support it with affidavits in the case against Pastor Ezekiel Odero.

The defense had argued that the pastor should be released or a charge sheet be produced against him. However, the Magistrate ruled that the defence's objection failed, as the orders issued on May 2 were clear. Odero was arraigned in court today under tight security.
"Following the orders on May 2, it is within the law and State is allowed to file applications orally and supported by affidavits," he said.
"The State can still rely on it to support the oral application. The objection by the respondent."
