According to reports, Zablon wa Yesu said to be Pastor Mackenzie's right-hand man, had previously worked as a successful manager before joining the controversial Kilifi-based religious group. The story of the Shakahola Massacre on April 28 has taken a new twist with this information.
According to police reports, Zablon wa Yesu was among the individuals rescued from the Shakahola forest as authorities discovered more bodies, bringing the death toll to 83.

Zablon wa Yesu's life story can be traced back to Shirombe village in Butere, Kakamega County, as recounted by his primary school classmate, Emmanuel Swaka. Before joining the controversial religious group associated with Pastor Paul Mackenzie, Zablon wa Yesu had been working at the largest retail outlet in East and Central Africa, a local supermarket.
Zablon wa Yesu, on the other hand, was not participating in the ongoing fasting at the time of his arrest. He stated that he would begin fasting in June alongside other Good News International Church men.
Before joining the religious group associated with Pastor Paul Mackenzie, Zablon wa Yesu had worked at the local supermarket and had risen through the ranks to become the manager of the Security Department.
